How To Clean Your Moka Pot II:

Deep Clean The Centre Pipe & Weight 

Over time, coffee oils and micro-grounds build up all over the insides of the moka pot often causing clogs in the central pipe and weight of the moka pot.The clogging can also be caused due to use of wrong size coffee grind and after an extensive usage. It will often prevent the water from traveling upwards causing just a trickle of coffee to come out. Make sure to clean the central pipe and weight of your moka pot every 2 weeks, tt only takes a few minutes of your time and it is a very simple procedure.

What You Need: 
-Warm Water 
-Toothpick 
-Straw Brush 
-Toothbrush

Step I

Remove the gasket and filter from the bottom of the collector.

Step II

Use a small brush to remove all the clogs from the filter, you can use a toothpick to get rid of the grounds stuck in the filter holes. If the filter clogs and reside cannot be removed or the silicon gasket is worn out, replace both as soon as possible.

Loose or deformed silicon gasket will not allow moka pot produce enough pressure to force the water through the grounds. It is also a very common cause of the coffee leaks in between the two parts of the moka pot. 

Step III

To remove the weight upper part, hold tight the lower flange with one hand and rotate the upper weight counterclockwise to unscrew it.

Step IV

Then remove the weight flange. If the central pipe is clogged use the toothpick to unclog it and then use a small brush to clean the inside of the pipe.

Step V

Let all the parts dry completely before reassembling.
